title: Perverts
author: Mac Crane
publisher: The Dial Press
publication date: July 7, 2026
pages: 256
peppers: 3-4 (on this scale) (lots of interesting things going on here)
warnings:
- violence against queer people
- other violence
- drug use
- boundary crossings
- vomit
- death, cremation
- blood, guts
- cheating on spouses/significan others
- more -- if you need warnings, this probably isn't the book for you
summary: these short stories cover a lot of ground -- people who are paid to allow others to beat them up, people pretending to be AI, people selling their thongs to those with panty kinks, more
tropes:
- not really a trope book
what I liked:
- some of the stories were interesting
what I didn’t like:
- I don't know if it's fair for me to list what I didn't like, as I am clearly not this book's target audience. In fact, I'm not sure why NetGalley sent me this one for the following reasons. (1) I don't generally read/enjoy short stories. (2) I love reading queer literature that doesn't feel like it's trying to soapbox to me about the queer community. (3) I don't generally like whatever genre these are -- very much not romance. For people who like these three, this book is probably great.
overall rating: n/a (of 5 stars) -- for the above-mentioned reasons, I don't feel right giving my star ratings.
