title: Not You Again

author: Erin La Rosa

publisher: Canary Street Press

publication date: November 11, 2026

pages: 336

peppers: 3 (on this scale)

warnings: death of parents, unfaithful wife

summary: As Carly is waiting alone for her father's service, she overhears the funeral director and his wife in an argument. The day gets worse from there...and then she gets stuck on that same day, as does the entire town, for almost a year. Though Carly and the funeral director Adam spend a lot of time fighting, they band together to try to figure out how to get the town out of the time loops.

tropes:

  • enemies-to-lovers
  • cheating wife
  • pushing parents
  • dead parents
  • Groundhog's Day experience
  • failed life plans

what I liked:

  • clever idea
  • skipped over the early days of the time loop to avoid clichéd scenes of wondering what's going on
  • fun town shenanigans
  • both male and female main characters go through realistic growth
  • amateur science meets professional science meets conspiracy theory

what I didn’t like:

  • nothing

overall rating: 5 (of 5 stars)

WHAT I DO

I serve as a class dean and teach English to high schoolers at a boarding school in Connecticut. I’ve earned a Bachelor of Arts (Amherst College), an Education Master in Learning and Teaching (Harvard University Graduate School of Education), a Master of Arts in English (Bread Loaf School of English), and most recently a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing with a certificate in the online teaching of writing (Southern New Hampshire University).

As a writer, I hope to capture the complexity and joy of life in the New England boarding school world. On this site, I share what I know about trying to write fiction while deaning, teaching English, coaching, and doing the other tasks associated with helping to raise over six hundred other people’s children.
