Have you ever streamed a show created by Canadian Television? After watching Heartland and Sullivan's Crossing, I wanted to write about the joys of watching shows made in Canada.
I find myself getting completely sucked into them for so many reasons. I'll share a few (in no particular order):
- Everyone hides from their feelings for a while and then talks about every emotion with honesty and self-awareness.
- Stories of love win every time. Characters say "I love you" genuinely and frequently.
- The love stories are completely wholesome. They never show more than kissing, and only between committed partners.
- Horrible things happen all the time and are always temporary.
- Main characters learn life lessons from B-level characters.
- There's no racism, sexism, homophobia, etc. People are mostly nice and open-minded.
- The people who aren't nice and/or open-minded are truly evil, but have clear reasons for being mean...and learn the importance of being nice and change their ways for the better.
- That is, the bad guys always get what they karmically deserve and also stop being bad.
We need real life to imitate Canadian TV. Can any of you help make that happen? I'll be hiding under a blanket right here, binging their shows until you do.
